A new method has been introduced as part of the package to make the Dutch construction industry more sustainable: all newly constructed homes must now meet standards relating to both energy performance (EPG) and environmental performance (MPG). What is the logic behind this development? Technical Director Jan-Jaap Van Os tells us more in his new column for Solar365.
“Due to the specific requirements that apply to the use of solar panels in construction – such as environmental performance (MPG) or stricter (fire) regulations for buildings – standard solar panels will be used less and less in this industry. This will automatically lead to a separate category of solar panels that comply with construction industry requirements and provide the desired energy and environmental performance. We can expect an exciting future for solar energy in construction, and we are ready for it.”
